Natural ways to lower your blood pressure without the use of drugs!
If you are one of the millions of people in America trying to lower your blood pressure, then this is worth a read!
Blood pressure, sometimes referred to as arterial blood pressure, is the pressure exerted by circulating blood upon the walls of blood vessels, and is one of the principal vital signs. Thank you wikipedia ;). Basically, it boils down to this. Your systolic (top) number represents the contraction and pushing of blood through the arteries to the rest of the body. This force creates pressure on the arteries. This number is ideally 120. Between 120 and 140 means it is time to make some changes before it is too late. This however, does not mean run to you M.D and ask for drugs just yet. This is not dealing with the root cause. Your diastolic number is ideally around 80 and represents the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests between beats. Hypertension or high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, stroke and a number of other potentially fatal ailments, but before you panic over slight shifts in these numbers lets look at some natural ways to keep them balanced:
I'm talking about table salt and fast food which is full of sodium chloride. Our bodies need sodium as an alkalizer but we are unable to use sodium chloride which raises our blood pressure. My go to when it comes to salt is Himalayan sea salt which has many health benefits and makes any bland meal taste better!
Stick to fruits and vegetables and minimize your protein intake. Always eat grass fed protein if you are a meat eater and minimize sugar and fried foods.
The more fat you carry around, the more stress your heart has to deal with and the harder it has to work. This increases your blood pressure so regular exercise is vital for a strong heart. It also gets your body used to a healthy flow of blood through your arteries and veins. This lowers your blood pressure. Some say 3 times per week is enough but I believe daily exercise is very beneficial, even if some days are just a 15 minute walk.
Meditation, Alphabiotics, massage, reiki etc can all help, but sometimes a few simple deep breathes can go a long way. Before you go to bed turn the lights out and jump into a warm bath with epsom salts. The magnesium can do wonders for your tension and blood pressure.
Vitamin D and C and also important for healthy blood pressure. I personally don't push specific company's or products but I do take a daily supplement called 'Cardio for life' which has everything you need to combine with my above suggestions for a healthy heart.
These above suggestions take time and dedication to allow your blood pressure to become more normalized. If you are feeling dizzy, getting constant headaches or experiencing nose bleeds, then immediately see your doctor.
